Multimedia: Constable Caires

Michael Caires doesn’t enjoy forcing people from their homes, but as a state licensed constable it is part of his job. With the rate of evictions skyrocketing as a result of the mortgage crisis, Caires finds himself busier then ever. Most his evictions are of tenants; those who have paid their rent but fall victims as their landlords go into foreclosure. The job is unpleasant and can be dangerous, but it pays the bills. Just three years earlier he and his wife fell behind on their bills and had to refinance their home. The way Caires sees it, his choice is either evict others from their homes or become one of them.
